Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
