This sun-drenched foodie getaway, based at a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Participants will master the art of selection of small dishes, attend a falafel-making workshop, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains like spicy mushroom ragu and moussaka. There are trips to the local market and a local vineyard to taste Portuguese wines, combined with leisure time for strolls by the Funcho River, to unwind on the deck or swim in the infinity pool. The accommodation, a former farmhouse, has five bedrooms, plus glamping tents in the grounds.

Street Dance in High Wycombe

This energetic camp is an uplifting, inclusive weekend adults’ street dance camp in High Wycombe. The daily schedule throughout the camp is a party-style warm-up session, then several hour-and-a-half workshops teaching different street dance styles, then an hour-long freestyle session to show off new moves. Dancers are split into levels according to skill level, so it is suitable for those who are completely new to street dance, right up to advanced dancers or teachers. This event does not provide lodging but there are a number of hostels and hotels within walking distance, and it is 23-35 minutes by rail into central London.

St Ives is the perfect setting for a sea shanty weekend. Guests will learn historic sailing songs from a experienced musician, and have a go at composing original ones. There will be voice exercises, breath control techniques, stagecraft advice and a closing performance. The holiday is held in a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. Full board are included, including a traditional tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, lunches to go and three-course dinners. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Author and tutor an experienced instructor leads the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores everything from story structure, character development, setting and tension, to sending manuscripts to agents.
